BRIGHT SAB – Neville Hogan, PhD

Neville Hogan, PhD MITNeville Hogan, PhD of MIT and a pioneer in Robotic Assisted therapy.  Neville Hogan is the Sun Jae Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences and Director of the Newman Laboratory for Biomechanics and Human Rehabilitation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a co-founder of Interactive Motion Technologies, Inc., and a board member of Advanced Mechanical Technologies, Inc.

Neville Hogan has played a key role in shaping the Vision of BRIGHT Founder Matt Palaszynski.  In the months following Alissa’s birth, Matt’s family began Physical Therapy for Alissa.   While any PT was beneficial, it became quickly apparent that the short 40 minute sessions that happen several times a week were not enough to duplicate almost constant physical interaction that a normally developing child experiences.  Add to that, insurance often only covers physical therapy for a short period of time.   As a fellow Mechanical Engineer, Matt was drawn to Neville’s work on robotic assisted therapy and to this day, BRIGHT still see’s robotic assisted rehabilitation as the future of brain injury rehabilitation.

Below is a video that explains Professor Hogan’s work with robotic assisted rehabilitation.   I apologize for the poor quality, but the quality of the content is worth the less then idea video quality.
